Bad Elster – thermal resort

There are three potable springs in Bad Elster whose waters have different mineral contents and therapeutic effects. Health treatments involving drinking and bathing in spring water focus on the Moritzquelle and the Marienquelle springs which are close to Badeplatz square.

The therapeutic effects of its water were recognised in 1669. Uses: mineral water and hydromassage baths for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular illnesses, natural mud baths and packs for rheumatism, arthritis, gynaecological problems, for completely healing injuries to joints, ligaments and muscles resulting from sports and accidents. Spring water is taken as a drink to assist in the treatment of metabolic, renal and urinary tract diseases.
