Zalakaros is located in the south-western part of Hungary, on the edge of the Zala chain of hills. The international fame of the almost 800-year old settlement is provided by its spa built on its thermal water; qualified thermal water can only be found in Gránit Spa in Zalakaros. The 96°C thermal water, which was found during an exploratory drilling for hydrocarbons, proved to be very effective in healing:
Zalakaros thermal water with a mineral salt content of 13000 mg/l. The medicinal water is sodium chloride and hydrogen-carbonate spring water which due to its iodide- and bromide-ion content can be ranged among the iodic-bromous, and due to its sulphide-ion content among the sulphurous medicinal waters. The metaboric acid content of the water is very high. The medicinal water contains radioactive elements only in a highly insignificant number.
Among the hydrotherapeutic treatments weight bath in Zalakaros there are effervescent bath, the 4-section galvanic bath and the tangentor. The wide range of services of electrotherapy - stimuli current, ultrasonographic treatment and magnetic ring - also serves recovery. In the open-air pool of the medical garden you can move in the morning in case of good weather with the help of a professional physiotherapist.
The services of the experience spa operated in summer and winter there are open-air pools with a water surface of almost 400 m2. In the park of approximately 10 hectares - ornamented with trees and flowers and carefully maintained - and at the thermal spa every generation can find their joy and amusement.
